Sponsor a Child for the Holidays!

Darius has filled out his wish list and has his fingers crossed that he’ll get the Power Rangers action figure he’s asked for this holiday season. And because of you, his wish will be fulfilled! Thank you to the more than 30 Holiday Sponsors who signed up to sponsor children in our programs at our four partner shelter sites across the District.

Your support helps to provide a sense of normalcy to children living in temporary shelters by fulfilling their wish lists. Last year we provided 477 children and youth with personalized gifts to make their holiday memorable. This year, we will match toys with about 500 children again this December, thanks to you!

If you didn’t sign up to be a Holiday Sponsor, you can still help:

  • Purchase a gift from Playtime’s Target Wish List, which ends Dec. 4 and includes toys and games for families who arrive at Playtime’s partner shelter sites in late December.
  • Purchase gift cards for Target or Walmart in increments of $25 or $50. The gift cards should be brought or mailed to Playtime’s office by Dec. 4. These cards help to supplement gifts for children who arrive at the shelters in late November and December. Playtime always sees a large influx of families right before the holidays, and so the gift cards help to ensure those families still receive gifts, even if we didn’t collect a wish list from them in time.
  • Purchase gift bags, wrapping paper, tissue paper, and ribbons for parents to wrap their children’s gifts.
  • Run a drive for diapers, stroller/teething toys, or educational kits for our programs.

To participate, contact Rebecca Staple at rebecca.staple@playtimeproject.org.

Your generous time and gifts make the holiday season brighter for Darius and all our Playtime children living in temporary housing.
